I was a boy scout and I always liked the outdoors, but what really got me re-interested in the whole topic years back was reading Doug's survival kit reviews on the site. It inspired me to make my own, I went through a ton of iterations, and ultimately learned a lot which I suspect was more the point than realistically ever actually needing it.

I know he doesn't have a lot of time to update the site, but there are so many commercial kits that have come out over the last couple years, if any of you have experience buying any of these commercial kits (or even your own) I'd love to see your thoughts on it in a similar fashion.

Even if just unofficial, a compiled place to report the pros and cons of these new kits might spark some interest in some young kids mind and lead him or her on a path of learning and discovery!
