That is an interesting article. I'd rather have to scoot from work than on my off time because my work (a towboat) allows and needs more EDC (including a canteen) than I carry on land.
In the event of abandoning ship, my lifejacket has more equipment including a Doug Ritter PSK. On a boat, I always have a Stanley canteen with my drinking water and a large halyard clip to secure it if I have to swim for it.
Just walking into a public forest land for a weekend with my EDC is an idea (fantasy) that has occurred to me,,, but then common sense prevails...
