Howdy and welcome. I've got a sister north of you on Cougar Mountain and was stationed at Fort Lewis for a while myself.

Not sure I grap your question - is that a bug-out disaster kit or a bug-in disaster kit? If it's strictly bug-in, seems to me the trailer is OK - keep the chainsaw elsewhere, eh? (we had a couple of doozies for windstorms when I was out your way and most of the trees that come down are BIG - as if I need to tell you)

If it's a bug-out kit, would it make sense to make your wife's SUV capable of towing the trailer in a pinch?

Or maybe it's both kinds of kit... If you think it through, I bet you can figure out the best answer for yourself without my opinion.
