Anybody watching/have watched Dual Survival with Cody Lundin and Joe Teti? Thoughts?

I actually enjoy the show, especially looking at the different thought processes of two individuals with widely varied backgrounds and their reasons behind what they are doing. Have to admit ignoring the occasional nonsense is a bit annoying.

Never could stomach Bear Grylls. Too much of the stuff he more or less advocated doing in a lone survival situation were beyond ridiculous.

I also gave up on it.
I am used to arguments of the sort, "You're wrong and I'm right. No, I'm right and you're wrong." That's OK.
But what I had started hearing was, "You're wrong and I'm right and you're stupid." Can't stand that.

When Dave was on,him and Cody would make a point of teaching.Since Joe came on I haven't seen much of that.It has turned into another scripted "adventure" show.I fell it has lacked any real content in this last season except for drama.Military guys are trained to do what the leaders(producers)say.A man like Cody follows his heart.....

BOATMAN John I take some issue with your categorization of military people. Yes, following orders in a military unit is essential. However, well trained and professional soldiers speak out more than most civilians I have seen when confronted by stupidity or incompetence, even within those military units. The issue is more about personality and personal goals, with Joe having different goals from Cody. Make a proper attribution rather than assigning people to a category and claiming that they all think alike.

Monanero, please accept my apologize if you feel offended. If you did not know I am former military myself.Does that make me an expert? No it does not.I was just expressing frustration with lack of talent and fresh ideas on television and Hollywood. It is getting harder to find intelegent programming lately.Discovery use to be a place for that and now it is mostly reality junk.Again I mean not to offend.

No worries Boatman. I am just used to hearing such things from many people, and I probably should not have responded at all.

I have to agree with montanero on this one. If Teti was the one who faked his background as a super soldier then he was a slap in the face for ALL military who have, or are, currently serving, JMHO. As for Cody, I've changed my mind about the man, I do enjoy watching his videos on the internet, including Dual survival. Bear Grylls? Some interesting techniques and thoughts, but he's a showman and in it for the money. Thats about the best I can say about the man on here. Again, JMHO.

I'd rather read Peter Kummerfeldt's book than watch these shows. Blake www.outdoorquest.blogspot.com

I may be mistaken, but was Joe Teti the one who made up a marvelous military career (on paper) where he had been through over thirty schools and personally advised the President on what tactical actions to make, etc? Then was outed as a non-combatant whohad served mainly in the guard? I remember seeing the mess on another site complete with obviously posed pic. If it was not him then I apologize to the man.

Thanks for clearing that up Izzy. I saw a book by Les Stroud I think his name was, in the Major's catalog today. Never heard of the man, does anyone have any information on the man and his abilities in survival situations? Thanks.

Just looked up Les Stroud's sons' leukemia variation. He has a good chance for a cure.

Thanks for the links Bacpac. I downloaded the videos for offline viewing and we spent a soggy Saturday night watching all three episodes. As always, Mear's meticulous and researched narratives are compelling such as this example segment which runs for about 2 minutes.

I kind of enjoy Cody's lack of a filter and hmmmm not sure how to say it without being censored. But he is amusing. I may look for some Les Stroud videos online if Microsoft ever stops messing with me. I do believe I saw Cody wear a shoe once.
