The photon 3 is a great light, but I often found it on in my pocket. Therefore I made this simple mod:

Materials:
- Wire
- Glue
- Tool

Procedure:
1. Cut wire in 6.3 cm (2.5 inches) and remove copper
2. Assemble wire ends to a ring with glue
3. Connect the ring to light

Furthermore I use an elastic to protect the switch.

Enjoy!

Now that's a switched on idea! (Get it? Switched on? HEHEHE <img src="images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />)
Thanks for sharing

I guess I don't get it.

That's a Photon 3. You use the rear "button" to set it in auto-off mode, and that's the way you carry it. If it does go on in a pocket or pack it goes off again in a minute or so, and your batteries are fine. Why the big deal?

I am a soldier and ONLY use the dim function in the Photon. I don’t use time to change the light to “auto off” from the dimmest setting every now and then.

Hope this helps understand!

Thomas, if you're keeping out of sight, you might also consider the covert microlght 3, which has a small plastic tube wrapped around the bulb to focus it and reduce glare.

When I was just at their site, I saw the new freedom microlight. IMHO, I think they're heading in the wrong direction with this thing. The light needs to have more buttons, not fewer, to give instant access to its different features. This one sounds even more convoluted to operate than the microlight3 is.

My Photon 3 was a continual disappointment to me, and I switched back to the simpler more reliable workhorse - the classic Photon 2. Imho, the Peter Principle took effect between the Photon's 2 and 3 - ie: they were improved one too many times after they had already reached their optimal design/performance level. (As to the waterproofness argument - my Photon 2 has been submerged countless times, and in addition to the beating it gets by continual pocket carry for 2+ years - it still works like a charm - it's my all time favourite flashlight, because it's always there when I need it!)

(However if I ever figured out a use for all those fancy flashing settings, and for some reason my finger wasn't able to replicate them, your idea is a good one. And the photo and presentation are a model for how to effectively present information on innovative work-arounds in this forum. Thanx!)
