Just browsing through the CRKT site, and what to my wondering eyes should appear but the RSK Mk 6{ http://www.crkt.com/rsk-mk6-survival-knife-2381

Slightly longer than the Mk5 and it looks really useful. I would love to hear more details....

I always liked the Mk5 because its size filled a unique niche. The Mk6 looks to be on the order of the Izula, Candiru, or (close to) the EskaBar. So at first glance I don't see a unique capability of the Mk6. But Doug don't play games so I look forward to hearing more about it.

Have we heard about this before? News to me, I figured it'd be on the site first...

Let me say from the outset that this is a very good looking knife. It would be a fine tool for survival to be sure. That said, I'm obviously not the target market for such a blade. I'm a pretty hardcore steel geek, and I loath 8CR13 MOV. I've never once got an edge I was satisfied with on that steel. Again, just putting it in perspective that I'm not knocking the product, only that I prefer a little more "upscale" steels.

However, I think it will fill a necessary niche for many folks. There are very few good quality knives in the general size/price class of the original PSK knife. At this size there are some great knives (eg ESEE Izula) but not at the price of the new Ritter.

I think it will be a hit. Eventually I'll probably have to get my grubby paws on one!

RSK Mk6 looks nice, there are other knifes available such as the Enzo Necker range in Stainless Sandvik 12c27 at similar competitive pricing.

Well, having read more about the Mk6 now, I don't see anything it offers over an Izula other than a moderate price break.

My new Mk6 ($32) arrived today and I like it very much. I'm not expert on the various steels used but size, weight-wise and feel-wise (the cord makes a comfy fit in my hand), I think I prefer it to the BK-14 ($36) and BK-11 ($38). Certainly would prefer using it compared to the diminutive Mk5 ($19), but the 5 fits in my wallet...

As you can see from the photos (links below), I don't use any of them very often. They are kept in various places (bike trunk bag, shoulder bag, backpack, etc.)

All the knife prices quoted above are Amazon Prime (free shipping).
