A week ago, reports of dangerously high levels of bacterial of flood water contamination were reported in the UK National press due to standing stagnant water due to the continuing flooding of areas of the previous 6 weeks due to the mixing with sewage and septic tanks effluents. These reports were then dismissed by the Government as not representing a health hazard to the public. The bacteria levels were measured around 10,000 times WHO guidelines for safe drinking water in the 3rd world.

Considering the Police response, this incident could well indicate a Cholera outbreak within 20-30 miles of the centre of London on the same river Thames which passes through London.

Hmm. Looked at the link. Where are you getting the data that indicate cholera? Stagnant flood water mixed with sewage might more likely be the "usual suspects" that appear when there is any breach of the wash hands/boil water routine. Not fun at all for the affected, and potentially very serious for some, but not necessarily an outbreak either.

Whilst it MIGHT be cholera or other water borne disease, reports in a newspaper suggest that it could be carbon monoxide poisioning from running a petrol driven water pump indoors.

Very sad, whatever the cause.
