Was at the Sam's club today. They were selling boneless whole ribeye for $5.68/lb. Can you believe that, never thought I would see it priced that low here in Alaska!

So I dropped $100 and will do half of it for Christmas dinner. The leftover cuts from that one will become Chicken fried Prime Rib the next day. I will most likely cut the other half into steaks and freeze them for later.

Ribeye is one of the big four traditions for us. Turkey for Thanksgiving, Ribeye for Christmas, Ham for Easter, and burgers and sausages for Independence day.

That's a pretty good price and would be even in SD. Their beef isn't too bad, either (most of it is Choice). The Costco here has Choice too but also Prime. A whole lip-on (ribeye) graded Prime would be about $200, though! A bit more than I want to drop on Xmas dinner but not completely out of the question. A couple of seasons ago I did NY strip steaks and sous vide lobster tails for the family. Everyone loves a rib roast though so maybe we'll do that this year.
