I've used it to fix knife sheaths to keep them together and to attach cordage to them. I've used it to temporarily reattach headliner in my truck. It has worked for me to patch holes in tarps and even to fix a blown out shoe (obviously not a permanent repair!).

It's odd to hear of it not sticking. Gorilla is probably the best sticking brand I've used. Did you make sure to clean what you were sticking it to?
