QRZ.com, eham.net and forums.radioreference.com come to mind immediately. If you need the manual you can find it at http://l-36.com/manuals/Icom-IC-735.pdf, the service manual at http://www.fujiyachts.net/manuals/Icom%20IC-735%20Service%20Manual.pdf. There's a list of common service questions at http://www.qsl.net/icom/oldicomfaq/ic-735.html.

What's going on with it?

Thank you for the suggestions. I will check those out.

I can't seem to be able to recieve any signals across the net. I've set it up per the manual and the tuners manual. I've used a mutli-meter to check all the coax and antenna; it all looks good.

Do you get any audio at all? If you're getting audio but no signal, I'd look first at antenna, connection, and particularly grounding issues before digging into the receiver circuitry. If you're not getting any audio at all something else is going on.

I am getting audio but no signal.

I will double check the connections and my coax.

After checking for attenuator settings and squelch and RF gain settings.....

Has the radio been left connected to an antenna during lightning? Might have to follow in the input traces to find an input diode blown out or something.

I found a blown diode on my SW receiver by touching the traces with my fingers while it was on and got signal from my hand on one side of the diode but not the other.

(gotta love low voltage equipment - would never use my fingers in my old tube rigs)

Not knowing your technical level, I suggest the following.

Disconnect the antenna and listen to the noise level. Connect the antenna, the nose level should increase. If no change perhaps the radio is not configured correctly (attenuator on etc.) or there is a circuit problem.

If the noise level changes, listen for the standard time broadcasts on 2.5, 5, 10, 15 MHz. They are very strong on at least one of those frequencies, depending on propagation.

If this fails, find a ham and ask for help. You could spend hours messing about and miss a switch or control in the wrong position.

What does "across the net" mean in this context?

OK. If connecting a random wire to the antenna connector continues to give the same symptom that suggests starting at the antenna connection and working inwards. You'll need a schematic and some knowlege to go from here.

As I said above, I found a blown bandswitching diode in my SW receiver that meant one range was dead. But a 'no signals' symptom could be many things.

Good luck!
