What's that line about solutions in search of problems? This will probably end up in a gift catalog in the back of airline seats.

Maybe you could order them there, but I wonder if these shears would make it through security and onto a commercial airliner?

Leatherman does some off-the-wall stuff. Interesting exercise, and I would love a review of this item.

But I regret to say that I would never buy one. The beauty of decent paramedic shears is that they are fairly tough, non-threatening, and ultimately disposable.

I carry EMT shears because for me, it is a versatile tool. I have looked at the Raptor before and I do not see how the extra tools add to the versatility for what I deal with. Moreover, the strap cutter seems redundant as the shears can do the same job.

I looked at the Raptor and rejected it due to cost -- roughly 10x the price of your typical EMT shears. It would be nice to have shears with other tools, but I'd rather have shears and a separate multitool. The folding aspect of the Raptor is kinda cool, but it adds to the complexity. I keep a set of EMT shears in every kit, not going to happen with the LM Raptor.

Too expensive for a tool that's going to be contaminated and possibly lost/damaged at a scene. Get enough person goo on a pair of shears and it's simply time to toss them.

Also the folding part seems overly complicated for a tool that's to be used quickly in an emergency. With the cheap shears its just reach back, grab them, and cut away. No unnecessary movements.
