here is a link to a outfitting company in Ely Mn.
one of their canoe guides is going to try to bushwhack his way from Ely which is the town at the end of the road in Minnesota to Atikokan Ontario.Atikakan is the canoe tripping hub for that part of Canada like Ely is for Minnesota.
so this fellow is going to walk thru the forest and use a dry suit where he has to make water crossings.he has all the right gear knows the country.there are no real trails only portage paths between the lakes.on the Minnesota side there are a few trails but he will be no where near them and in Canada there are none in the park he will be hiking thru,Quetico Park.
i have done a lot of canoe tripping in "the Q" and it's all heavy pine forest, black spruce so thick you can't see thru.
cliffs,bogs--you name it.
some have said it's not that bad as rangers, surveyors and naturalists have made their way around but i don't think any have done it solo and made water crossings.
