Hey guys,

I was recently on TV in a collaborative production with the Red Cross.

To quote the Red Cross:
"they just may have the best shelter in place kit we've ever seen."

They thought I created the kit AFTER the storm. I simply augmented it after the storm - but I've always had the "supply closet".

Have a look. I simplified the presentation of my total kit for the camera a bit - we didn't go over sanitation and power generation or some of the most advanced stuff.

Interesting to see a face behind "anonymous" member of a net forum.

Looking great, Martin! We need more videos of normal people doing sensible emergency preps that everyone can and should do, rather than "doomsday" or "extreme" survival shows that push people away. You and your family -- including the young ones -- are warm, well-spoken, and excellent representatives for Red Cross.

Those are good, common sense preps, and you represented the preppers well. I think some people think all preppers fill the cavities in their walls with canned Spam and ammo. The labeled bags are a great idea too.

I'm glad no one was hurt when your house was damaged. Hit home for me (no pun intended) because we have giant swamp maple trees towering over our house. Some of the branches are themselves the size of trees. Living in Minnesota, we have no fear of hurricanes, but ice, tornadoes, and straight line winds have caused an astounding amount of damage to structures and trees over the last 5 or 6 years.

I have plenty of big tarps, but off to buy more roofing nails. Thanks

you might throw in a dozen or so furring strips to attach the tarp edges so wind and rain doesn't get under it....a can of expanding foam in case of a puncture...

for those who don't know what a furring strip is

Neat smile
and amazing -- no attempts sensationalism shocked

I'm curious, how did that (filming) come about (casting call)? Did family need convincing?

The wiktionary tells me martin focazio means starling seal uncle, does that mean you can fly?

Your emergency closet would make for a fun couch smile
