...Still playing with this idea; I needed a med. size of equipment without giving up too much pocket space. Will likely go with a digital camera case, 5x4"

+1 Love the design. If you want to carry a two cell flashlight, be sure to specify open bottom on the side sleeves. They will hold one cell lights similar to a Fenix L1D or P1D with room to spare. It's part of my EDC and it'll take a few years to tell how well it will hold up. The material is thinner than I expected for the price but the number of layers would make it difficult to assemble if they were much thicker.

This is what I use...has been in service for over a year and still holds up well. There's a loop on the back of the case to attach to your belt.
Top row is: knot practice cards and cordage,alcohol wipes, fabric bandaids,tylenol, moleskin.
Second row: whistle,flashlight,leatherman micra on lanyard, chapstick, extra flashlight battery, gum, blank card for notes/etc.
The case was about $8 at wallyworld and is a point and shoot camera case. It holds quite a bit actually. Measures 3x4.5 and is 2" thick when packed. What it can hold is up to your imagination and needs.

I use a belt pouch that I found at Academy Sporting Goods. It holds my SAK, a mini maglite, a bic lighter, 2 AA spare batteries, a short ferro magnesium rod w/striker, and a tubular photon light/red laser pointer. I've put heavy wear on this pouch for 5 years now and it is still holding up extremely well.

if you don't have crushable items, a really small, but a little more difficult kit to access can be a generic multi tool pouch.. I ride a bicycle, so opted for the LM Juice S2 over the Farmer, and the Streamlight single cr123 over the Bic... the hacksaw blade section, ferro rod, safety pins, needle, tweezers and petroleum cotton in straw are included... I carry an additional E05 and brass whistle on a key chain

Just had the same thought, Les. My new Leatherman Wave came with quite capable stock pouch with 5 compartments, which are securely holding my EDC urban kit:
  • Leatherman driver extension attachment;
  • Leatherman Bit Kit;
  • AAA LED flashlight;
  • peanut lighter wrapped with 1.5 feet of duct tape;
  • precise tweezers;
  • several large (shoe repair like) sewing needles;
  • normal sewing needle with several feet of Kevlar thread;
  • about a foot of steel wire;
  • Safety pin.

Most importantly, I can draw the tool, attachments, and the flashlight out without disturbing the rest of the items.

On the image
A - normal needle with thread;
B - Safety pin, also working as the tool holder (to compensate for the higher tool position in the pouch because of the lighter at the bottom of it;
C - front pocket with needles;
Red arrow - tweezers over the BitKit in the dedicated pocket;
Blue arrow - the split ring of the Peanut lighter securing it together with the flashlight.
