That looks like a very interesting website. Lot's of info to study.

I'm surprised that the site did not mention anything about the failure of the GEOS-13 weather satellite. That is the main satellite used by NOAA to track weather on the East Coast and tropical Atlantic.

NOAA has retasked GEOS-15, which normally covers the West Coast, as a temporary measure. It sounds like there is a backup satellite in mothballs, GEOS-14, that NOAA will activate soon if they can't get GEOS-15 working again.

Since NOAA already predicted a more turbulent than average hurricane season this year, it's not a good time to have your primary weather satellite go down.

TS Andrea is here... my Midland WX alert radio works...just ended a tornado warning...roadside ditches and retention ponds already filled... going to be some flooding... 1# propane bottles chilling in the freezer to be refilled... Eneloops, spare 12v auto, and cordless drill batteries charged...will rotate out the stored water...will freeze a couple more gallon bottles of water... and a get a couple more flats of bottled water... just a friendly reminder....

Andrea is a nice drizzle so far out here. Supposed to hit around 6pm last I heard. Just in time to drive 25 miles home!

I drove through Andrea yesterday. It's part for the course here.

I'm from Southern California. We get confused when the smog lifts, much less real weather rolls through. whistle

torrential rain, when horizontal, tends to have you question if it's a good idea to try and get another 10,000 miles out of your tires, and to check the log to see when you replaced the windshield wipers last...
