My mouth is watering! Thanks spuds! I think we need to give this a try. We're in bread-making mode today but a migraine has us sidetracked so maybe we'll do double duty tomorrow and add canned bacon to the list.

Here's one of my faves: http://m.youtube.com/index?&desktop_uri=%2F#/watch?v=pG3SEusqegg

P.s. I usually mix my bannock in a zip lock bag, rather than right in the pan. Bad for the environment, gold for my slightly OCD brain. I also don't like it burnt, so don't put my pan right on the coals, but rather, tilted facing them. Like so:

Available in the grocery store. I like the Hormel, but most of the major brands are good. Each has a somewhat different taste, just like their uncooked stuff. I use the 1 lb equivilent for medium groups (it needs to be used in a couple of days after opening) and the big size for a crowd (72 pcs of bacon!!) or very big eaters. I also keep one in the fridge at work. Most of the time I use the smaller packages of bits or pieces for one or two. Just enough for one or two meals (I do like bacon and use a lot). I also carry some for snacking and keep it in my ruck. The only things missing are the smell of it cooking and the bacon grease for cooking. But you don't need a cast iron skillet.

I still carry fresh eggs for the first couple of days though, have not found a powdered or precooked that I like as well.

Respectfully,

Jerry

p.s. You just convinced me to make some right now! ((-:

Thanks Jerry. I think I'm going to try that. Also, I'm on the hunt for Ovaeasy powdered eggs. I hear they're much better than standard powdered eggs, using a different process of some sort. They had them at our local Sail store, for about a day, and then they sold out. frown

The canned bacon video was a great example of how to accidentally cut yourself or cut your friend using a knife: 1. Cut toward you. 2. Hold a knife in your hand while you and your partner rifle through a box together.

Videographers aside, it looks like the canned bacon is worth a try.

To answer the OP's question, I like my bacon with a side of bacon. smile
