I like your attitude. I have never quite gotten why people think it is helpful to say something that serves no real purpose.

In these kind of situations there really is nothing that someone can say that is helpful.

Any advice or insight on dealing/coping/planning is always appreciated.

The future son-in-law has proven his mettle in two ways. First, he asked my permission to ask my daughter to marry him; Second, he did not run off when they had an unexpected pregnancy. Their son is just over two years old. Yup, Jared is a stayer and a keeper.
