Rarely. When I do it is mostly in rather cold conditions. I do, however, have a pair of good leather work gloves handy for situations where gloves are a good notion. For a long time I preferred a nice pair of leather dress gloves - they were light but still quite protective. In cold conditions I really like an inner pair of liner gloves, fleece or capilene, and an outer set of gloves or mittens, up to and including down filled mittens.
Doing archeological excavations, I will wear work gloves intermittently until my hands are toughened, and then I usually dispense with them. You can work much more carefully without gloves.
When bile riding, I always wear a pair of fingerless cycling gloves - also basically the same sort of rig when climbing and I am belaying.
