Why don't you just use an Otterbox, GSI or Pelican boxes?

If you try the mobile phone idea, its worth considering recycling the battery.
Your local council (or equivalent) or environmental group should be able to tell you of schemes in your area.
I googled this website as well that seems to have an international remit
mobile phone recycling

Although if you're going for disguise, it might not be appropriate.

Hello,

One more additon, I've not seen. As in the sad event in Spain, the detonations are sometimes initiated remotely. Nothing would attract more attention, than a "wired-up" (filled with some goodies including wires and some more metal parts) special mobile phone, or radio. My opinion is still to have a clearly marked (survival kit, first aid kit, etc.) box, like a simple translucent beach-box (used to store valuables during swimming), or clear lid Peli box which would allow to easily check the contents.

So this is a deal between passing more "raising eyebrows", and risking more stringent questioning after some officer popping open the battery compartment. As far something is legal, I can not see the point to hide.

As someone in the aviation business and working very closely to security systems I would say that if you try to pass through security points with a modified cell phone to carry intresting stuff, you will have some unpleasant time. All the security staff or the police do not like any kind of a container that is modified from a tool etc. The most important part is not hiding anything from them, you directly become a suspect.

The airport that I work for was the first airport from the region that was authorized by FAA to start direct flights to US after 9/11.

Otter box with Divers markings. Plain simple and understood by everyone.
