On ABC's Good Morning America this morning there was a story about some Olympic hockey player who went snowboarding, got lost, got frostbitten and had to have both feet amputated.
While I applaud his endurance, I feel his experience can be helpful to others who wish to aviod similar experiences.
1) He was alone
2) He told no one of his plans. He got lost on a Friday, but the search didn't start until Wednesday. If they don't know you're missing, they won't start searching.
3) No compass or map. He was "walking in circles". You can't get yourself out if you don't know where you're going.
A few minutes of effort aand a cheap compass would have made a world of difference. The parts I have ain't much, but I've been attached to them for decades, and wish to remain so.
