I had bricks dropped off in my driveway by a friend who had some extra. So far I have taped the corners, then taped them together in pairs with Gorilla Tape.
Tomorrow, I start out hiking with 2 bricks. We were already planning on hiking tomorrow, I'm just adding a backpack with 2 bricks in it for right now.
Going to start using the treadmill every evening to ramp up slowly to rucking with 4, then 6. My current backpack wouldn't be suited to the GRC or even training with any more than a couple of bricks, so I plan on buying a GR1. They are supposed to be doing a limited run of coyote color per their website.
This guy's page gives a really detailed description of all the gear he wore and used, been studying it pretty heavily:
http://www.briangreen.net/2012/07/goruck-challenge-gear-loadout.htmlMine weighed in right at 5 pounds each, so I'll be rucking 30 pounds in bricks since I weigh around 180 pounds. Going to see once I get the GR1 just how high I can get them to set in the top. The guy on that site recommended using a foam yoga block underneath to raise them up also.
