Yesterday, Bacpacjac mentioned ranger bands in her fire starting kit.

I am just learning about ranger bands. A friend made me a set out of bike inertubes.

What uses do you have for ranger bands?

In addition to the about, i think they're tougher and I believe they last longer than regular old elastic bands too.

She's toying with us right now. If she doesn't arrive on her own this week, we're going to be induced on Saturday morning at 8am.

Sorry for the derail Blake. Here's a video showing some of the uses: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OTrOb7zO-B4

One if the things I like about them is that they tend to lie flat, and you can make them any width. They work great for securing the lids of my fire tins, especially after I've put a venting hole in them.

My hands sweat a lot, especialy here in FL, and when I go to the shooting range it would affect my grip. Ranger bands to the rescue. I put one around my grip and all is well.
