What is "DP"? - not familiar with that acronym?
A "survival store"?? - really? It should grow on its own - if he has a good product/services.

I doubt they pay. They always say you will benefit, exposure, sales, etc. Most never get the benefits expected. For the most part, these production companies with the cable TV shows are leeches. You provide the talent and sweat, they make the money. Unless your name it on the show, of course. Yes, I am a cynic. Have many friends who have BTDT. Interestingly, they never do it again. Wonder why?

What is "DP"? - not familiar with that acronym? I think that's the show in the subject line: Doomsday Prepper(s?).

I tend to go along with the don't-go-near-it opinion.
However, one option would be to give them what you have and they need, rather than what they think they want.
Hmmm–somewhat unclear. They want survivalist training, give them preparedness training.

The don't want survivalist training, they want a crazy to make for a good episode. It's about ratings, not training, survival or preparedness.

spuds,
If I was going to do some shopping at your friend's store, and the night before I saw him and his store on Doomsday Preppers, I would definietly steer AWAY, and find another store for my shopping.
How is that for a clear cut no-no.

I say "Heck no". Anything he says they are going to misconstrue to make him out to be a nutjob. That's all they ever do.

The best opportunities in life almost never start by receiving an unsolicited phone call. But the worst opportunities...

The 15 minutes of "fame" aint worth it,...to what end? I once had HGTV here for filming a project and it took me weeks to get my place in order, filming took all day,.....not one good thing came of it.......no way, never again.....

Having some experience with this, TV often pays well, but they do own you -- and exposure isn't always want you want. See the sister wives or moonshiner shows.

....I'd say no. In fact I have said no.... Just out of curiosity, why were they asking you? A quick look at your blog and nothing strikes me as being written by someone who would fit the "doomsday preppers" bill. Pretty mild really. You appear to be someone just doing small reviews of gear and such. Geez, everyone and their dog has a blog these days it seems, especially survival blogs. Hopefully they don't put people who are "prepared" with those who are 'doomsday prepared" in the same boat. Was it because of the blog or for something else? There is a guy here in Ontario (or Quebec ?)who buys up old school busses so he can bury them and convert them to bunkers or something. I can see why they may want to talk to hime for sure....

But, yes. It was because of the old blog, yes. Understood. I wasn't trying to imply there was anything with you blog either BTW. Hope it didn't come across that way. It's just that..well..It's just a blog is all. A guy writing stuff on this or that. Nothing stood out that would suggest you wore a tinfoil hat and spent hours a day in your basement eating mainstay bars and bagging rice. To be totally honest I think they're reaching out to anyone and everyone who in any way "preps." I cannot help but suspect they pick out the more bizarre of the crop for sensationalism sake. In that case, I should give them my brother in laws number. He posts here on this site (or used to anyway) Real interesting chap that one. ( don't hurt me if you read this)
