I wish manufacturers would get rid of the useless strobe, flash, blink, SOS, etc. modes. Those are just a waste IMHO, and a pain in the butt to have to cycle through if you hit them by accident. I would say, make a special version of the light specifically for folks that need those extra modes so everybody else doesn't have to put up with their annoyance.
The Foursevens Quark "standard" interface handles this issue very well, leaving disco modes available for those that use them and unobtrusive for those that do not. Their "Tactical" interface does it in a different way, and Eagletac has another way that works well for me.
I've used the strobe to get attention at a distance, and I'd want to have at least that available (if not the other disco modes) for a light carried for potential emergency use.
