I saw a lady on the subway the other day who had a baby in a stroller in what looked like a mini down sleeping bag. By the time I saw her it was too late to hop off the train to ask her about it. It looked kind of like this:

Any parents have experience with something like this?

Wiggy's sells a baby bunting.

We had one for our two girls, and I passed it on to my best friend when he had a son. It works well for what it is. It was only $25 when I bought ours. It appears they have gone up.

Thanks Greg!

DH just had an idea: Get a kids down puffy jacket, remove the sleeves, and then sew up the arm and waist holes. Viola - baby sleeping bag.

We have a couple of traditional bunting bags - one fleece and one synthetic. They're basically baby sized, one-piece snow suits with a square bottom instead of legs, and a hole for the safety seat strap.

hahaha! Probably. It's sort of a super bunting bag.

I just want to keep her as warm wnd dry as possible when we're ready to start hiking, camping, etc. Not to mention the possibility of needing to bug-out in the cold wet weather. (Yea, it's a last resort but I'm in that phase of pregnancy where prepping is become more urgent and thinking about all the realistic possibilities.)

When my son was a baby. we just used a regular snow suit and blankets but he was a summer baby so by the time we needed stuff like this he was already 6 months old and thermoregulating a bit better. If there's something better and more convenient out there, I'd like to explore it.

I can't imagine you'd need bunting bags down there in the sunny South, Izzy. They're basically baby snow suits. There's a few different configurations but you raise a good point, we want the baby warm but not overheated. On my gosh, I can't believe I'm spening so much time thinking this through. Thanks for baring with me guys.

Thanks Spuds! I feel like maybe I'm overthinking it but I've got a limited budget and want to get the best bang for my buck.

No experience, but seem to be a trending item.

As for the jacket idea, if you get down, beware! That stuff will explode everywhere as soon as you cut it open.

Goo point, MDinana. I'm also concerned that when down gets wet it's yucky and babies tend to leak.
