mmmmm..... I've never tried boiled eggs on the trail. Always worried about them going bad if I bring them with, and taking too long to cook if I make them on the fly. Might need to add this to me TO DO List. Thanks IL Bob! One tip - peel them ahead of time.

suggestion ... pretty obvious but it works :-)
I always have a large chocolate chip cookie, or a couple of choc chip granola bars, stashed somewhere safe in my pack. These are my emergency foods for cheering up, or when I am out of time and just can't cook, or when I am getting hypothermic and need energy fast.
The world usually looks much better - after a chocolate chip cookie :-)

The world usually looks much better - after a chocolate chip cookie :-) Amen, Bro. I sometimes cut up some jerky and throw into my mac and cheese. (don't do it with teriyaki jerky, though. )

I have about a dozen of these 3.5 ounce delicious bars. http://www.danishfooddirect.co.uk/danish...t---Soft-NougatNot to be used daily but only when you really, REALLY are in need of something sweet and yummy. They also pack a lot of calories. 550 calories in one bar.

What else have y'all been holding out on me about? A tin of good quality Corned Beef mixed in with the Instant Idaho Potatoes together with some Jamie Oliver Sun-dried Tomato & Hot Chilli Stuffing served with a little HP sauce. http://www.jamieoliver.com/products/herbs-and-spices
