You say you're casting for an "Extreme Survivalist" show. Are you purposefully mixing the terms 'survivalist' with 'survival expert'? Do you understand the difference?

More Hollywood "action" no doubt.

Do you have any further info on this project as the last TV show called 'Stars Earn Stripes' was pretty appalling even without Desmond Tutu, Jody Williams, Mairead Maguire, Betty Williams, Jose Manuel Ramos-Horta, Adolfo Perez Esquivel, Rigoberta Menchu Tum, and Shirin Ebadi calling for it to be cancelled after all stating;

A survivalist is bunker buildind,gun hoarding,rice and bean eating,tin foil hat wearing type.It is a term we try to avoid here.The very word is considered an insult to many on this board."Elite survival experts"are men like;Mors Kochanski,Larry Dean Olsen and John Lofty Wisman.They are the Elite through a lifetime of study.Their experience is more than the age bracket you are looking for.And "reallity TV" has ran its course.The networks should try to produce a show that actually teaches some thing.Instead they placate to the lowest denominator.

I hate "reality" TV as well, and there is not much else on lately that I like. Why would anyone with a reasonably stable and good job give it up for a very questionable shot and a questionable fame (or notoriety)?

Complete detatchment from objective reality is my only guess.

IMO, while genuine survival experts may choose to do hard-core trips to test technique as well as physical and mental stamina, they will be first to lecture you on rule #1: the best way to handle a survival situation is to avoid getting into one in the first place.

But that makes for lousy TV. Sorry.

Things like Knifes, cordage, & containers, etc. are not Extras when it comes to survival.

Humm all that I can think is, The best way to survive is to NOT be caught without your gear. As they say, "The best way to win a fight is to not get in one." So the best way to do extreme survival is to dodge extreme survival.

I don't understand why involvement in these sort of things are looked down on so much.

You get to challenge yourself, have an adventure and its not only on someone else's dime, but you get compensated for your time as well. I mean, I'm definitely not the target participant for a show like this, but I can see the appeal.

Sometimes I think we forget its okay to have fun, be adventurous and, yes, even push the boundaries of what we think we are capable of or what is "safe."

if I was young and I had a lot of free time on my hands - I might give it a go. I doubt that they will let anybody die out there. but they do need to give careful consideration to their safety plans. Just having a couple of paramedics on the set might not be sufficient.

I have a confession, I did talk to the producer. While on the phone I did comment about regional knowledge and the such. The person assured me that they would pair teams together with complementary skills.

Though it is a man and a woman supposedly alone naked in the woods.

I was interested, until the naked part came up then I was left thinking, "well if they put me on it, it would go from survival show to horror movie!"

Survival "experts" who are willing to be the Naked Survivors, is a tiny universe.

So are these people supposed to be the new Adam and Eve? Or is the premise that a bear ran off with their clothes while they were preoccupied?

But seriously: I think the problem with these shows is that they can give some inexperienced people the impression that they can trek into any wilderness without having a minimum of necessities. I.e., "I don't need to pack a lighter. I'll just make a bow and drill to make a fire like (insert reality show personality) does." "I don't need to pack extra heavy water; worst case scenario, I can always drink my own urine."

It boggles the mind, frankly...

At least if you are teamed up with Grylls, you will not have to.worry about cold nights
as I hear that Holiday Inn keeps their rooms fairly warm...

if they are going to re-create the Garden of Eden ... I hope they're giving someone a fig leaf! HAHAHA!!!

as soon as I read this stuff, I thought to myself ... oh no, not more drivel from Hollywood.

really, if they are doing the naked man and naked woman thing - they need to stick them on a tropical island where they might NOT freeze to death. just like the one that Tom Hanks used for Castaway. but at that point, the show's value as a survival reality show becomes minimal. It's all about bare skin and palm trees. :-)

Wow, this is complete and utter nonsense... In what situation would you find yourself naked in winter in the middle of the woods? Not dressed appropriately and a freak storm hitting is one thing.
