now that thats out of the way. i need some insight. im looking for a quality wilderness carry knife. im stuck between the Becker CU7 and the Cold Steel SRK. im not cure about the differences in steel between the 2, but thats not TOO important, i figureif im stuck in a survival situation i will have PLENTY of time to take care of my knife. i want something with a lil heft behind it. basically a nice, simple knife.

this is the most rediculous post, if you can decipher this id love to hear what you have to say... [color:"pink"] [color:"white"] [color:"brown"] [color:"purple"]

Becker knives are made by Camillus. Many Cold Steel knives are also made by Camillus. I once owned a SRK. It is a fine knife for the money. If you like it, I'd look over the Fallkniven S1 Forest knife. You get a knife very similar in pattern and dimensions with a better choice of sheaths, subdued or bright finish and a very usefull extended hammer tang. The Becker line is very popular for a ever growing line of robust knives at very modest prices. All of these knives can be acquired at very competitive prices and would serve you well.

hey boss. thanks for the oh-so-quick re: as far as the S1 (?) you mentioned. im thinking its a little too much money for me right now. basically i convinced myself that i was gonna spend no more than $50 on a new "pack knife". though i DO plan on getting some more serious steel soon, i think the becker will just have to hold me over for now.

I'll second your choices.
I have a fallkniven S1 and a Becker CU-7.
Becker can't be beat for value for money.
Ths S1 is one solid knife razor sharp of of the box.....

Welcome, rumbaugh. I have the SRK, and it is a great knife for the money. Just keep it lubed to prevent rust, as with all of the Cold Steel Carbon V knives .
I haven't tried out the other knives recommended, but they do get great reviews on this site. Hmmm, I am working an overtime shift right now, that might be something to spend all this money on! <img src="images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

You should check out Cold Steels factory seconds. The same great knifes with only minor cosmetic flaws. They run around half the price too.The flaws are only cosmetic and do not affect the steel or performance of the knife. Not bad for a knife to carry in a rucksack any way.I believe I got my SRK for $37.95 plus shipping.
