Just downloaded TeslaLED last night. $1.00 donation...so not free but it doesn't ask for ridiculous special permissions either. Modes include regular flashlight, auto off after 1 min, strobe (adjustable rate), continuous SOS mode (includes beeps), touch-on mode (must touch screen to activate and as soon as you stop it is off), auto screen brightness, and "police lights" (flashing red & blue patterns). Will be testing them outdoors in dark this week.

BTW, I should add that I have a Droid Razr Maxx...simply for the battery capacity. I don't like the iphones. If the Samsung Galaxy Siii had the razr maxx battery I'd have that. I do travel with a Nomad 7 Solar Panel ( Nomad 7 http://www.goalzero.com/shop/p/11/Nomad-7-Solar-Panel/6:3/) by Goal Zero (http://www.goalzero.com/). So, outside of getting stuck in a tunnel or cave, I can solve the smart phone power drain issue.
