It never occurred to me when I was younger that I had to take a class -- when I was a kid I did a lot of hiking and camping, with my family and at summer camp. We were taught the basics of bushcraft and survival (staying warm, staying hydrated, staying found) during those hikes and campouts.

I know a lot more now and consequently have a greater cognizance of the depths of my ignorance. Going on a three day or longer survival school vacation will probably have to wait until my kids are a bit older.
