A small lightweight battery charger for a lightweight Solar PV panel such as a Sunlinq 6W panel, which can charge a very wide range of Battery cells, both Rechargeable Lithium and NiMh. Could be useful for folks that run rechargeable Lithium Cells (higher performance Flashlights) and NiMh AA/AAAs for Portable SW radios etc.
Mine experience with a Soshine charger was as following: Plugged it in, charging, went away, heard a 'pop' sound, smoke coming from the charger and case melting.
I assume you were charging a lithium battery instead of a NiMH from your description. Everyone that plans on recharging lithium batteries owes it to themselves to understand the dangers involved. I never, never charge these batteries unless am going to be close at hand monitoring the entire process. Always remove the batteries from the charger as soon as charging is complete. There are other precautions written by knowledgeable people that Mr. Google can show you.
