Man, on Friday I had to use a two-lane roundabout (in the U.S.) for the first time, and I'm lucky to have gotten through it without a major accident ... though I ticked off a few people and rightfuly got honked at.
Roundabouts are popping up all over the U.S. - replacing stop signs and stop lights - and EVERYONE in the U.S. needs to take some time to learn the right way to use then - especially a two-lane roundabout.
http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/safety/roundabouts/ My short lesson on how to use a two-lane roundabout is ...
1. Only use the outside lane if you are doing an immediate right turn. Hug the outside (right side) of the turn, turning into the right-most turn lane.
2. Head for the inside lane (when safe to do so), and when ready to exit use the left-most turn lane, but be watchful of knuckleheads like me who don't know the right way to use them!!!
Its really pretty simple IF you know how ... yesterday I clearly didn't know how. Sigh.
