A better model for a well equipped BOB might be the sort of pack a wilderness SAR member would assemble and keep ready.
That's an excellent model. I chose a different one for my circumstances: my BOB lives in my car, and as it is right now it's too heavy for a long hike. I've got all kinds of tools and capability in it if I'm driving or not walking far. If I have to, I can strip it down, load it with water (always at least half a case of bottled water in my car) and hoof it. There are some things that hikermor probably carried (like climbing gear) that I do not.
Plan for your particular geography, knowledge, skills, plans and so on.
