Teacher, emergencies are NOT predictable. We have to be able to go through WHATEVER the situation dictates. So, you want to stay at work ( I have a similar plan too ) however, what if there is NO power in the office building ??? You will need your wilderness stuff afterall.

I have an office bug-in kit. The items in that kit are complemented by normal office/work stuff scattered around. For example, we always have clean work clothes (from the laundry), which I am planning to fold as pillow and spread as bedsheets.

Among the items in my kits, I have several stoves. For example, there is a DIY alcohol stove, and plan to use the rubbing alcohol, and ethyl alcohol that are available nearby as fuel. And yes, I know where to light it safely within the building. If I don't need it, I can eat some crackers and peanuts. But if the night is cold, I am going to heat a cup-a-soup, and enjoy it.

Do you have REI or EMS near you. Both have lots of inflatable and other small backpacking pillows you can use. REI has samples to try.

I've never seen them at REI before, but maybe I wasn't looking in the right place. I'll give 'em a try.

The ExPed air pillow is superbly comfortable, lightweight, super compact when deflated, and very well made (unlike most travel pillows). I got mine at REI and take it on every road trip and overnight backpack.
