Indeed. I stopped by my local hardware store and found a ready made mister to keep myself cool out on the patio. Works great. My dogs seem to like it too. Thanks for the suggestion.

IIRC, misting played a large part in a tom clancy novel-used as a means of delivery of biologic weaponry at the olympics; the first legionella epidemic was related to mist dispersal through the hvac system at an american legion convention. periodic flushing of the system with dilute clorox, or maybe vinegar, with suitable rinsing should eliminate any such concerns. Perhaps an inline fertilizer dispenser filled with gatorade to simultaneously cool and rehydrate the athletes...until the sugar and salt crust on their clothing got too stiff to move...
