It's time to replace your Mini-Mag with and LED light anyway. LEDs are so much better and the batteries will last much longer. Now you have a good excuse to upgrade.

Thanks for the tip arney, i'll give it a try. The leakage was confined to the tailcap so this might work for me. Also, the liquid part has already turned to powder/crystallized so I hope this will still work.

Treeseeker, this mini-mag IS an led light so no need to upgrade. I do still have a couple of the old style mini-mag lights with incandescent bulbs but this was not one of them. I've been working on getting all the kit lights upgraded to LED's, but with so many choices and budget constraints it's been a difficult journey.

That said, before that time it was riding in my truck or in DW's van, driven in to work, left to sit in the sun all day, and return home where it sat further in the sun and through the cool-down of night temps.

Thanks. I've had to learn the hard way to check my gear regularly.

An HT is a handheld amateur radio transceiver. It stands for handy-talkie. I've been a ham for over twenty years, my wife and daughter were recently licensed.

Even good alkaline batteries leak. If it wasn't temperature it could have been a small manufacturing defect.

I purchased 50 mini zip lock bags on ebay for $3.00. They are just big enough to hold two AA batteries. I now toss in a couple of sealed bags, storing the batteries seperately from the light in my packs and in my car.
