Hi, I am a Spanish 25-year boy interested on survival equipment. equipped.org is the best page I have seen!

I'm thinking about including a laserpointer in my kit as signaling tool; mirrors don't work at night. It's a good idea?

Thank you and sorry my spanglish
A laser pointer, as used for making presentations, proved ineffective as a signaling tool in our tests. There is a new laser signaling tool coming out from Greatland Laser that proved effective inbt ests of the prototypes, but we'll have to wait to see if the production, eye-safe version works as well.

Some people may mistake it for a weapon being aimed at them also. I think a bicycle strobe light would work fairly well as a signalling beacon. Range might be the issue with that though.
