last post for a few weeks,on the AM of the 6th i'll be off for that two week solo canoe trip "as far north as you can get in the US" that i have talked about here.
i see this as a vacation and not some sort of adventure.i was up to Lac La Croix and the lakes around it over the last couple years and it was were i took my first canoe trips in the 80's
the only problem i ever had was getting wet on the portage and getting a camp at the very low end of hypothermia.a tent warmed by a Peak stove fixed that right away.
however it's the dump overboard and the loss of the canoe and gear that's my only real worry, survival wise,so i got this small Gaz burner.it and the smallest cart made will fit in my PFD pocket.this along with a meal kit in a cut down Swiss canteen should go a long way in keeping we warm and safe inside a foil bag and under a foil blanket.i think this is a world better than trying to get a fire going with whatever fire cube or paste and a Bic or fire steel i could have along.
on the last day out and close to the canoe landing i'll break out the stove for a test and post the results.
