lesson learned from 04 hurricane season in Florida...if you don't EDC a good light....find some way to attach a split ring to a quality light... I use a cable tie near the bell of the head... a belt clip or small carabiner to hook it to your belt...you will have a better idea of where you left it... smile

The other day a spring storm came through around 4pm. Lots of thunder and lightening which scares my son. I OTOH enjoyed it from the comfort of my hot tub out back. Hot water sloshing me on the outside, warm bourbon sloshing me on the inside.

I walked in about 30 minutes after it started and my son had collect a half dozen flashlights, a brick of 50 tea lights shrink wrapped, and his PERSONAL stash of chem lights from his room (about 8), and put them all on the kitchen table in case the power went out.

We are prepared for no lights.

Also a quick tip. I don't mind buying those larger, plastic, cheap 6 volt block batteries you find at the check out at big box stores. I have found that if you use them, then let them sit, they drain. So when not in use, turn the battery over or add a cardboard shim to cover the coils, and put a piece of blue painters tape over the lens & write that the battery is good just disabled and depending on the technique you used how to put it back into service. It will save you some grief.

So why doesn't the woman know where the flashlight is? Is it always up to the man to be prepared? Leaving sexism out of this, what happened to PERSONAL responsibility? smile
