Why does it seem like people prefer the Blast match to a magnesium block with built in striker? I personally prefer the magnesium and vaseline soaked cotton balls, am I missing something?

The Blast Match is designed for onehanded use the magnesium block and itīs striker are not. When you canīt use two hands for any reason this is an advantage. The operation of the Blast Match is easier than that of a simple rod So people who are with you are more likely to use it successfully if need may be.

I personnaly find it difficult to "shave" fine magnesium particules and keep them from beeing blown away by the lightest wind <img src="images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />
I carry a Sparklite + vaseline impregnated cottonwool.
(+ Bic lighter + wind & rain proof matches)
