Several months ago I happened across a compact zip loc bag and immediately thought container for PSK. Rather than go that route I made an overnight kit. I can carry it in the pocket of my light nylon anorak which stays in my pack. It has enough items to see me through a night in the desert or low mountains. Perhaps not comfortably, but better than nothing. It can treat minor wounds, making shelter, cover myself against the cold and elements, light, food, purify water and make fire. As you can see from the list below I went heavy on fire making, I always do. While meant for a mere overnight we all know that a situation could turn into several days, so I'll have ample means to make fire for thee duration. Hopefully. As always, any questions, comments and suggestions are welcomed. Thanks.

Perhaps swap the glow stick for a mini LED flashlight like the www.fenixtactical.com E01 (very handy)and a spare AAA cell.

Add a whistle of some sort, maybe a couple of large heavy duty safety pins.

A mini vial of iodine and you could treat cuts and clean water thus dropping the alcohol swab and dioxide tabs. You could treat a lot more water as well. Not like either item is that much of a burden but you are swapping 2 items with a specific use for 1 item that is multiple use.

Why a vapour patch? and What the hell is a paper signal mirror ?

I love the E01 and it has a special place in my heart, but nowadays I'm recommending the ThruNite Ti instead. It costs about the same as an E01, gives you longer runtime if you need that and a lot more output if you need that, along with a much better keychain connection.

Maybe you edc it, but I don't see anything sharp to cut the wine with. maybe add a small folder, SAK, multi-tool or scissors? A cuting tool is valuable for more than just putting rope!

Thevapor patch will open the sinuses and allow a more restful sleep. It works. A paper signal mirror is from a burn cell I bought for a job. It was a piece of very heavy paper with a silver side. I tested it against a much shinier CD and the ever popular aluminum tape and it threw a stronger light. So I cut out small signal mirrors using a credit card for a template and used a paper punch for the sighting hole. They fit real nice in an Altoids tin. Thanks for responding.

Thanks Izzy. It's back up so I have quart bottles but the chlorine honestly gives me the creeps. And the 4 hour treatment time is absurd. Not to mention risky here in the desert where you may not have that long left in you IF and when you find a water source. Thanks for the advice.
