Exactly how is this politics?

This Danziger Bridge incident is highly charged case; here in Louisiana, nationally, and (as the pulled BBC post shows) internationally. It is indeed a horrid tragedy, and justice has again been done. But it has nothing to do with being equipped to survive, or to survive, other than the lesson NightHiker gave.

There are many, many lessons that come from Katrina that directly relate to being equipped to survive, and many stories illustrating the same. This is not one of them. That is why I pulled the link.

Seems to me that it's a lesson for us in route planning and the consequences when things go very wrong.

'Bugging out' against opposition is very difficult.

I'll have to beg to differ with the notion this has nothing to do with survival. It's a lesson in at least the following:

-Things are chaotic outside the neatly defined rules of ETS.
-Things don't go as planned.
-Keep your situational awareness at all times.
-Be aware of how others may perceive you.
-If you're in a desperate situation where you have nothing but what is on you, then assume the worst in people until proven otherwise.

That last one may sound controversial, but this is "Equipped to Survive", not "Equipped to be Voted into Office".

What concerns me is that they have made the job of ordinary decent L.E.O's in these situations (who conduct themselves with distinction in these situations) orders of magnitude more dangerous.
