I'll have to beg to differ with the notion this has nothing to do with survival. It's a lesson in at least the following:

-Things are chaotic outside the neatly defined rules of ETS.
-Things don't go as planned.
-Keep your situational awareness at all times.
-Be aware of how others may perceive you.
-If you're in a desperate situation where you have nothing but what is on you, then assume the worst in people until proven otherwise.

That last one may sound controversial, but this is "Equipped to Survive", not "Equipped to be Voted into Office".
