Like you I also have a CCW license though my conceal carry these days is more like pepper spray and a stun gun instead of my Ruger LC9. One thing I've learned studying the subject and talking to police officers is that if you ever do shoot someone, two things will happen. One is that you will likely spend the night in jail and two you will put your lawyers kids through college. You can automatically count on being sued regardless whether you are in the right or wrong. That doesn't mean you shouldn't use a firearm if you are being threatened, but you better think thru the consequences well ahead of time because there will be unpleasant consequences.
