Looks cool. I'd want one that was black or brown to make it a bit harder to notice, and made of plastic for the sake of the fact that I'm cheap. That plus using my LM PS4 as a striker and I'm all set.

Nice looking unit, but for the same price you can get a bunch of mini-Bics and Stormproof matches, to just mention a few of the reliable fire ignition gadgets out there. Just be sure you are proficient with whatever you carry.

I carry a sparky on my keys. Maybe not a brand name one, but the same thing. I realize it may not have as much striking life, but I like that is has some burnable material built in should I need it.

I carry a hot spark on my keys as well... I just love the little guy.

I showed up for some winter camping at a scout camp a bit earlier than the rest of the troop. I didn't have a lighter or matches on me, but I was able to get the wood stove going with the hot spark and some tinder that I always keep in my coat.

I have one of these on my keychain, they have gone up in price since I bought mine though.

As for lighters and matches, yes, they should be carried too. I will say that the butane lighters like the famous Bic are prone to failure. I have a brand new Bic, used a few times that just stopped working, will not spark. They are very fragile to be depended on in an emergency. I carry a Zippo and a Zippo refill tube. I make sure to fill it before leaving on a hike. I keep at least 3 firemaking methods on me, they are small and could be a lifesaver!

Another vote for carrying additional fire-making tools, though (especially a reliable lighter) as I'm not able to get a firesteel fire going quickly enough under bad weather conditions -- I know 'cos I've tried.
