How Did you all First Come Upon this Site?
I Came upon It via a Bibliographical Listing towards the Back of J. Wayne Fear's Excellent Survival Book, " The Complete Guide to Outdoor Survival"
Which in Turn I Came Across while Combing the Survival / Preparedness / Outdoors Books at one of my Favorite, Reader Friendly, Border's Stores.
I so Speak of this, in my Post on such Things, in the Lending Library Forum.
BTW,-This Book is Reviewed and Recommended, within the "Survival Books", portion of this Site.
That's How I Landed on This Site! And Very Happily and Satisfactorily,-I'll Add!

I found this site because of the economy in general.
I was looking for and bookmarking sites on solar energy, primitive living, home medicines, food processing & storage, homesteading, weaving, pottery making, and anything that would make life cheaper.
I am a hunter who also enjoys many other physical things, but I find that age is taking away my ability in a lot of my more physically demanding activities. My earning power is decreasing because of age discrimination, so I am trying to learn to make do with as little as possible without having to completely "rough it".
This just happened to be one of the sites I hit on that definitely fits the bill in some respects.

A case of serendipity. I accidentally stumbled upon it while searching for underground houses (I had just watched a program called "Subterraneans"). The info exchanged on this site has been a great help to me, and the civility of the members is refreshing.

I was doing a search on Google for "survival equipment" and found ETS. I was hooked from the start, as it is by far the best, broadest, and most logically grounded sites i've ever found, period..
Almost all the other sites I came across were chocked full of kooky "survivalists" that were giving each other advice on how many 55 gallon barrels of wheat germ to keep in the lead lined basement next to the weapons cache... Either that or folks that were so ultimately sold on only primitive survival skills that they considered making a fire with anything other than friction blasphemy..
So, finding this site was great! I was really glad to see that there are still other people who are also interested in real honest to goodness survival skills and equipment.

Back in 1999, my wife and I planned a trip to Chicago. I was in the market for the perfect personal flashlight, so I went Web surfing. One page I found reviewed them and explained them quite nicely. That page also pointed me toward this site. Can't remember the other site's name now, or I'd mention it. Once I got here, I liked it so much, I became a member and stayed.
