Firearm safety.

Hope this hasn't been posted before.

The funny, the sad, and the outrageous.

If you own a firearm, please be a good ambassador of the shooting sports and don't allow these things to happen to you or anyone around you. In particular, making women the butt of firearms jokes is a great way to turn them away from shooting.

When you see unsafe gun handling, find a non-confrontational way to put an end to it or leave the area.

continuing the [soapbox] Giving a new/young shooter a way too powerful firearm just to have fun at their expense when the recoil goes way wrong is not funny. It is just ruining a potential shooters day and as chaosmagnet stated, it "is a great way to turn them away from shooting."

Start new shooters with a .22LR rifle or pistol. Don't set them up to fail, make it fun for them. When you do move up to bigger calibers with more recoil, make sure they understand the forces and have good safe control of the firearm. [/soapbox]

Rather appalling; quite a few examples of out of control pistol grip shotguns.

'What not to do' videos might be a good tool for teaching firearm safety.

I've seen many of those videos. I'd say about 25% of the mishaps are faked. So, I consider the whole video to be a joke.

An honest gun mishaps video could be a good teaching tool for gun safety.

About the only one I found funny was the M2 barrel failure. Someone forgot to check headspace and timing.

The rest, especially the drunks - take away all weapons until they can learn proper handling. And the police officer should be put on meter maid duty.
