Despite the title of this web site -- I think the keys to improving are not more/better equipment but rather expanding your horizons as you clearly have done this year. New activities, learning new methods and wider interaction with people are the greatest parts about interacting in this forum. As they say in the Backpacker magazine forums -- "Get out more!"
