This kid (http://www.cnn.com/2011/12/12/world/asia/philippines-abducted-american/index.html?iref=allsearch) was kidnapped and held in captivity for five months. He watched for and found an opportunity to escape, eating candles that he'd saved and coconuts from foraging, walking out of the bush for two days, alone.

I hope I'd be able to find half as much fortitude in myself as this kid did.

I read this artical, this is one tough and thoughfull kid!

One intresting point was that when he found the vilage, he was initaly afraid of the villagers thinking that they were part of those that kept him captive. It took the viliagers a little while to convince him that they were OK.

It is stories like that that give me strength to suck it up when I am in bad situations. I just think, "if a 14 year old can deal with this, so should I."

My hat goes off to the kid and my heart out to the family.

Well done kid.

And here's a key lesson (in case we need reminding) - it ain't all about the kit, it's about what's between your ears.

This gives me hope-a teenager able to wait 5 months biding his time until he was able to make a clean getaway. I think this kid got some good upbringing some where along the way too.
