We always used electrical tape to pull wires doing alarm system installs and I can't recall a failure, and that was usually pulling through walls with insulation and obstructions, not conduit. Can't say if mule tape is better (maybe for larger wire bundles?) or has other special uses, but if so have at it. My tape pantheon runs electrical tape > gaffers tape > duck (duct) tape.
